Announcement!

It's time to make the big announcement! Planet Milkshake will be opening shop next month on Storenvy! I also have a booth at the Bump, Baby & Toddler Expo which will take place November 15th - 16th at the Careport Centre in Hamilton... which is coming up really fast!!!

I have 2 pairs of tickets to give away, so if you're preggo or have lil ones you definitely want to come check out this expo, there's tons to see.  The giveaway is taking place on my instagram account tashabplanetmilkshake -- all you have to do is follow me on instagram, go to the picture and tag a friend you think would benefit from going along with you.  Winners will be chosen at random, and you have up until the first week of November.

Now I have to go design, sew and organize as fast as humanly possible...

Vintage Fruit Shorts

I've been working more on my photography lately so haven't been paying enough attention to the fashion aspect of things... but my goal is to get a good handful of items ready before I open up Planet Milkshake's shop for business officially. Here is an item that has been very successful in catching people's attention whenever Xander is wearing it out! The Vintage Fruit Shorts. For this design I took inspiration from fifties / sixties designs you might see on tablecloths or aprons, and gave the fruit some good old timey cartoon faces - creepy or cute you decide... the colours pop out more than the average vintage print would because I like to mix it up with the late eighties / early nineties look.

I took Xander to a program we're doing at an Ontario Early Years Centre and the girl running it saw the shorts and said "that reminds me of my childhood!!" I'm pretty excited because that's exactly what I was going for so it gives me encouragement that I may be headed in the right direction.

Currently in the process of the next design, but why not let me know what you think, what are some things that remind you of your childhood that you might like to see in your baby's wardrobe?

Treasure Hunting & Little Boy Blue

It's been a few weeks since my last post, reason being we were away on vacation in Florida! Sounds lovely yes, but actually I'm never ever going to drive down again... especially with a crying 3 month old who had the flu on the looong drive back. My poor baby!!

Before everyone started getting sick, it was day 2 of driving home and we found this antique mall in Georgia just before reaching Tennessee. I'm obsessed with antiquing. How can you not be beyond excited to wander rooms and rooms full of old stuff that's come from all kinds of places and all kinds of time periods? There's a story behind each object and the feeling of mystery and nostalgia is overwhelmingly exciting!

I came across this section of toys from when I was a kid and it was like stepping back into my childhood...

Ummmmm amazing, right?!? And there was more!

This is the kind of stuff Planet Milkshake will be born out of!! So I grabbed a few treasures and felt sad that I had to leave the rest behind. I also came across some baby clothes and got Xander a vintage outfit (I call it the Little Boy Blue outfit)! Soo awesome. Here are my treasures:

Not sure which pony this is, do you know?

Bedtime Bear!

Sweet kitschy bunny

Vintage baby boy's outfit

Cuuute!!

November Babies @ lil' bean n' green cafe & play

A couple of weeks ago Xander and I drove to Toronto to meet some of the ladies and babies from the November Babies! Facebook group. Visiting the city is a bit more stressful with a baby, I learned. I was so worried about getting lost and being late! Guess what happened? I got lost and was late... ha.

This place is called Lil' Bean N' Green. (http://www.lilbeanandgreen.com/) It's a cute and cozy environment where moms can come and chill with their babies and connect with other mamas! Stroller parking, great food and service, a sweet play area... I really wish I lived closer so I could take Xander there all the time!

I had a green tea latte and a chocolate zuccini muffin. Xander had milk. Speaking of which it was so great to be able to nurse out in the open and not feel weird about it. Really enjoyed meeting these ladies and their babies in person after all these months!

(There's little Xander on the end far right, in his H&M jeans and cardigan & Baby Gap socks... he's usually much better dressed than I am these days..)

Earlier this week I finally got around to shooting the first of the photo series I'm starting inspired by Wengenn in Wonderland. Turned out better than expected! Husband helped. =)

I just discovered this sweet brand called Moon Fries. What makes it even more exciting is that it's Canadian! Creator Jenny and her adorable little boy Carter who you can see modelling the clothes on instagram (Supberbuds) are based out of Vancouver, B.C.

I love this long sleeve shirt that reminds me a bit of Star Trek called diamond but Xander isn't big enough yet! Help me decide on what to get him! Leaning towards the North leggings... yes??
